Hello, I’m Laura.

I am an Art Psychotherapist specialising in supporting mothers and children.

About Me

May 2026 UPDATE

Thank you for visiting my page - I am currently on maternity leave and will be returning to practice until mid-late 2027. Therefore I am not taking on any new clients until my return. I cannot guarantee that I will be able to respond to enquiries in a timely manner but I will aim to do so when I can.

I help mothers, carers and their children strengthen and deepen their relationships through Dyadic Art Psychotherapy. Families who come to see me may be experiencing relational, emotional and behavioural problems that impact them on a daily basis.

I offer private sessions at Solus, Burntisland as well as working part time with the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) within the NHS.

In between my work I am also a practicing artist and above all, a mother of two children.

My Approach

I am a relational therapist and I like to get to know people and their key relationships when we begin working together. My work is informed by DDP (Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy) principles which is about accepting people’s stories for where they are at and making sense of them together. I offer a psychodynamic approach, which means working with people’s unconscious experiences, often from the past and bringing awareness to how they influence your feelings now.

Art making with an Art Psychotherapist can provide new ways of expressing thoughts and feelings that relies less on talking. What differentiates Art Psychotherapy to other forms of therapy is the materials can offer a means to capture inchoate* feelings that would otherwise be unreachable with words alone.

Weaving curiosity and empathy into sessions with both parent and child can provide an opportunity to reconnect with each other and co-create a new understanding of one another through collaborative art making.

Since becoming a mother myself, I am driven to working with family dyads from a position of hope in providing a space where trust can be formed and healing can take place.

People that can work with me can be from any family constellation, foster, adoptive as well as birth families. I typically advise working with parents only in the first instance before leading into dyadic work as part of ensuring engagement in therapy with me feels timely for all.

*Inchoate; something that has just begun and so not fully formed or developed.
